Telemann's Canonic Sonatas: how do they work?

Q. The Telemann's Canonic sonatas only appear to have parts for one instrument only. Am I missing something?

A. The Canonic Sonatas have the same part for the two instruments. Here is how it works:

1. The first instrument starts to play from the beginning.

2. When the first instrument reaches the bar marked with "Canon", the second instrument starts from the beginning: here is the canon.

3. Continue to play "in canon" until the end of the piece.

That's it!
