I was in a lesson with Mr. DeLay and I was playing this piece and I closed my eyes because that's what I did when I wanted to feel a lot of what I was doing.

I closed my eyes. So I closed my eyes and I was playing and Mr. DeLay suddenly said to me, you know Billy, you shouldn't close your eyes.

And I looked at Mr. DeLay and I said, no, no, no, you don't understand. I feel, I feel the music when I close my eyes. It's something that comes from inside me. I can feel it.

And Mr. DeLay said, well, that may be true, but you know Billy, if you close your eyes, you don't know what you did.

And if you don't know what you did, you can't do it again.
