So we finally figured out a tricky passage only to forget it seconds later.

Well, instead of just playing it over and over again to get it back, what about working on your awareness? For example, why not have your left ear listening to what you're doing and your right ear taking notes from another part of the room? Hard to manage? Then grab a tape recorder and let it be your right ear.

So doing things like this can help us fully understand what we did.

But what about you? Does this give you any ideas? Well, remember, if you don't know what you did, you can't do it again.
