So you don't want to get injured as a violinist? Okay then, here's my advice.

Never do anything that hurts.

If you're doing something and it starts to hurt, stop immediately.

I repeat, never do anything that hurts. Now, I do understand that it's difficult as we can get used to pain and because of that not notice when it's there. Especially when we are super focused on learning how to do something new.

But please understand that nothing good is gained from doing something that causes pain.

So, let's take a moment and explore.

Breathe in and hold your breath for a few seconds and then let it out.

Let your shoulders drop.

Relax your fingers.

Relax your eyes.

Relax your jaw.

Relax your feet.

Relax all the muscles that you can think of and then take a moment and feel what all this feels like.

You see what you're feeling now is a great model for playing without pain.

So, if you start to feel something different from your model, be very careful to be sure that it doesn't hurt.

Again, so you don't want to get injured as a violinist? Okay then, here's my advice.

Never do anything that hurts.

I don't care who told you to do it. Stop doing what you're doing and remember, never do anything that hurts because if you do, bad things could happen.
